General English

This course aims to provide students with the necessary English skills to be able to communicate their needs and intentions to others whether they are native English speakers or speakers of other languages using English as a lingua franca. The course is designed for students wishing to use English for a wide variety of purposes.
DURATION:
The General English Course at Nova runs for 45 Weeks per year. Each Term is 10 weeks long and there is a week break after each term. At the end of the year there is a three-week summer break.
There are 20 hours face-to-face scheduled classes each week (5 hours a day, 4 days a week) and 5 hours minimum self-study per week (project work, homework, etc.)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The prerequisite is completion of compulsory secondary education or equivalent. Students will be allocated to classes based on their performance in Nova English Placement Test.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program prepares international students for vocational or tertiary-level study in Australia and other contexts where English is the language of instruction.
Learning activities will focus on writing, reading and listening, grammar and vocabulary development, oral presentation skills, research skills and web literacy. There will be an emphasis on the development of critical literacy and critical thinking throughout the course.
By engaging in such activities, students will gain increased understanding in using English to communicate in academic contexts at Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
